The CD4046B is a micropower phase-locked loop (PLL) with standard CMOS logic operation from 3V to 18V supply, designed for phase comparators and VCO applications. It features two phase comparators (PC1 for XOR, PC2 for edge-controlled), a VCO with linear frequency adjustment, and a source follower output. Operating current is 50µA typical at 10V, with frequency range up to 1.4MHz. Selection is ideal for low-power frequency synthesis and demodulation in industrial and consumer systems. Applications include FM modulation and demodulation, frequency synthesis for clock generation, tone decoding, and signal tracking in communications equipment.
