The CD74HCT138 is a 3-line to 8-line high-speed CMOS decoder/demultiplexer featuring TTL-compatible input thresholds. It operates from 4.5V to 5.5V and includes three enable inputs (two active-low, one active-high) for simple expansion to 1-of-16, 1-of-24, or 1-of-32 decoders. The device provides active-low outputs. Propagation delay is 24 ns typical at 5V. Selection is ideal for interfacing TTL logic to CMOS memory systems. Applications include memory address decoding in microprocessor-based systems, data demultiplexing for peripheral interfaces, and logic function generation in 5V digital systems.
