The DSPIC30F2010-30I/SP is a 16-bit digital signal controller (DSC) from Microchip that combines the processing power of a DSP engine with the simplicity of an MCU, housed in a 28-pin SPDIP (skinny DIP) package and operating at up to 30 MIPS at 40 MHz. For selection, verify the 2.5V to 5.5V supply voltage, confirm the –40°C to +85°C industrial temperature range, and note the 20 I/Os, 12KB Flash memory, 512B RAM, and 1KB EEPROM. The device features six Motor Control PWM outputs (three independent or three complementary pairs) with 16-bit resolution, a 6-channel 10-bit 1 Msps ADC with simultaneous sampling, and a Quadrature Encoder Interface (QEI) that includes 16-bit up/down position counter, direction status, and position measurement modes (x2 and x4) for precise motor position feedback. Connectivity includes I²C, SPI, and UART with an internal oscillator. Designed specifically for cost-sensitive, high-efficiency motion control, it is ideal for sensorless BLDC motor control with Back-EMF filtering algorithms, sensored PMSM control using sinusoidal voltages and Space Vector Modulation (SVM), AC induction motor (ACIM) control, brushed DC motor (BDC) control, as well as two-wheel balancing robot control, digital power supplies (SMPS), and sensor feedback applications in automotive and industrial automation.
