The ISO1540 is a bidirectional I2C isolator capable of isolating clock (SCL) and data (SDA) lines. It uses TI’s capacitive isolation technology supporting up to 2500 VRMS (1 minute) isolation. It operates from 2.5V to 5.5V on both sides and handles standard I2C clock stretching. Selection is critical for breaking ground loops in I2C buses. Applications include Power over Ethernet (PoE), battery management systems (BMS) isolating high-voltage packs, and isolated sensor interfaces in industrial automation where ground potentials differ.
