The L6470HTR is a fully integrated microstepping motor driver from STMicroelectronics in HTSSOP-28 surface-mount package, realized in analog mixed signal technology and designed for driving two-phase bipolar stepper motors with motion engine and SPI interface . For selection, verify operating voltage from 8V to 45V, 3A RMS output current (7A peak) , SPI interface for sending commands and setting registers including current control value, protection thresholds, deadtime and PWM frequency , programmable speed profile and positioning, programmable power MOS slew rate, sensorless stall detection, low quiescent and standby currents, programmable non-dissipative overcurrent protection on high and low-side, two-level overtemperature protection, true 1/128 microstepping resolution for extremely smooth motion and reduced low-speed resonance, and operating temperature from -40°C to +150°C . Features include unique control system generating user-defined motion profiles with acceleration, deceleration, speed or target position easily programmed through registers , integrated dual low RDS(on) DMOS full bridge with accurate on-chip current sensing circuitry, SPI daisy-chain capability for multiple device control, and very rich set of protections (thermal, low bus voltage, overcurrent, motor stall) .
