L6562ADTR ST Power Factor Correction (PFC)

The L6562ADTR is a current-mode PFC controller from STMicroelectronics operating in transition mode (TM - also known as borderline or critical conduction mode - CrM), designed for active power factor correction in AC-DC converters with a wide supply voltage from 10.3V to 22V. For selection, verify the totem pole gate driver capable of ±600mA peak current, accurate multiplier for near-unity power factor, very low start-up current (<70µA) and quiescent current (<4mA), and operating temperature from -25°C to +125°C. Features include dynamic OVP (overvoltage protection), feedback disconnect protection, and THD (total harmonic distortion) optimizer for low distortion. Applications include power supplies for computers and flat-screen monitors (SMPS with PFC), electronic ballasts for fluorescent lamps, AC-DC adapters requiring PFC, LED drivers, and any off-line power converter above 65W that must comply with EN61000-3-2 harmonic current limits.
