The LM1085 is a 3 A low-dropout linear regulator with adjustable output from 1.2 V to 15 V, operating from 2.6 V to 25 V input. It features a low dropout voltage of 1.3 V typical at 3 A load, with 0.003% line regulation and 0.1% load regulation. Built-in protection includes current limiting and thermal shutdown. Selection is ideal for local 3.3 V to 2.5 V or 5 V to 3.3 V regulation in medium-to-high current applications. Applications include hard disk drive power, battery charging circuits, post-regulation for switching converters, and consumer electronics requiring up to 3 A linear regulation from 5 V or higher input rails.
