The LM1117 is a low-dropout linear regulator designed to provide up to 800mA of output current with a fixed 5.0V output. It operates from an input range of 6.5V to 15V and features a dropout voltage of 1.2V typical at full load. The device includes current limiting and thermal shutdown protection. Unlike many LDOs, the LM1117 is stable with ceramic or tantalum output capacitors. Selection is ideal for local 5V regulation from unregulated 8V to 12V supplies.
