The LM1117 is a low-dropout linear regulator providing up to 800 mA output current with a fixed 2.5 V output, operating from 4.5 V to 15 V input. It features a dropout voltage of 1.2 V typical at full load and 0.01% line regulation. The device is stable with ceramic, tantalum, or aluminium electrolytic output capacitors, offering design flexibility. Built-in protection includes current limiting and thermal shutdown. Output voltage tolerance is 2% over temperature. Packaged in a 4-pin SOT-223 for surface-mount designs, the LM1117 is ideal for local 2.5 V regulation in medium-current applications.
