The LM2940 is a 1-A low-dropout regulator with a fixed 5.0-V output, operating from a 6.25-V to 26-V input. It features a low dropout of 0.5 V at 1 A and a quiescent current of 15 mA typical (1 mA in shutdown). The device includes reverse battery protection, internal current limiting, and thermal shutdown. Output voltage tolerance is ±4% over temperature. Packaged in a 3-pin TO-220 (CT) (10.16 mm × 4.58 mm) for through-hole mounting, the LM2940 is ideal for automotive and industrial power supplies.
