The MAX232ECDR is a dual RS-232 line driver/receiver from Texas Instruments, consisting of two drivers and two receivers . It meets the requirements of TIA/EIA-232-F and operates from a single 5V supply, with a charge pump requiring only four external capacitors . The device features ±15-kV HBM and IEC 61000-4-2 (air-gap) ESD protection, and ±8-kV IEC 61000-4-2 (contact) ESD protection on RS-232 pins . The device operates at data signaling rates up to 250 kbit/s with a maximum driver output slew rate of 30 V/µs . The driver outputs are protected against short circuits . Housed in a 16-pin SOIC (D) package, it operates over 0°C to 70°C . Applications include serial communication interfaces in industrial equipment, consumer electronics, and any system requiring RS-232 voltage level conversion with enhanced ESD protection.
