The MAX3222E is a dual RS-232 line driver/receiver operating from a single 3V to 5.5V supply with enhanced ESD protection up to ±15kV (IEC 61000-4-2). It features two drivers and two receivers meeting TIA/EIA-232-F standards, with a charge pump requiring only four 0.1µF external capacitors. The device supports data rates up to 250kbps and features auto-powerdown to reduce supply current to 1µA when the RS-232 cable is disconnected or the driver is inactive. Operating temperature range is -40°C to 85°C for industrial applications. Selection is ideal for battery-powered industrial serial communication with enhanced ESD immunity. Applications include industrial handheld meters, point-of-sale terminals, telecommunications equipment, and automotive diagnostic interfaces.
