The MCP2518FDT-E/QBB is an automotive-grade external CAN FD controller in a 14‑pin VDFN (4.5×3mm) package. Select this device when your MCU lacks a CAN FD peripheral or needs extra CAN FD channels, as it connects via a standard SPI interface up to 20MHz and adds a full CAN FD node without redesigning the host processor. It supports both CAN 2.0B and CAN FD modes, with arbitration up to 1 Mbps and data up to 8 Mbps, and complies with ISO 11898-1:2015. Key features include 31 configurable FIFOs, 32 flexible filters, 32‑bit timestamp, bus health diagnostics, low power mode (10µA sleep current), and built‑in safety features such as SPI CRC and ECC memory. Operating from 2.7V to 5.5V across –40°C to +125°C, it is AEC‑Q100 qualified with TS 16949 screening.
