The MCP79410-I/MS from Microchip is a low‑power I²C real‑time clock/calendar with 64‑byte battery‑backed SRAM, 1 Kb EEPROM, dual alarms, a programmable square‑wave output, and digital clock calibration for accurate timekeeping. For selection, it operates from 1.8 V to 5.5 V with a 1.3 V–5.5 V backup supply, draws just 1.2 µA timekeeping current at 3.3 V, and features automatic leap‑year correction, power‑fail timestamp with battery switchover, a factory‑programmed unique ID, and block‑write protection. The industrial temperature range spans −40 °C to +85 °C in a compact 8‑MSOP surface‑mount package.
