The MIC5233-3.3YM5-TR from Microchip is a highly accurate 100mA low-dropout regulator with a fixed 3.3V output and an ultra-low 18µA ground current, purpose-built for battery-powered systems that must extract maximum run-time. For selection, the wide 2.3V to 36V input range, 270mV dropout at full load, ±2% accuracy over -40°C to +125°C, enable pin, and stability with only 2.2µF ceramic or tantalum output capacitors simplify BOM and thermal layout, while reverse-battery protection, reverse-current blocking, overcurrent, and thermal shutdown harden the power rail against fault conditions. Designed for multi-cell Li-Ion, USB 5V, and 12 V/24 V industrial supplies, it excels in portable instruments, notebooks, PDAs, wireless sensors, handheld terminals, medical devices, automotive electronics, smart meters, and any space-constrained SOT-23-5 design where high input voltage tolerance, low self-consumption, and reliable 3.3V regulation are essential.
