NE556N TI Programmable Timers and Oscillators

The NE556 is a dual precision timing circuit (two independent 555 timers in a single 14-pin DIP package), capable of producing accurate time delays or oscillation. It operates from 4.5V to 16V supply and features 100kHz maximum frequency. The device provides high current output (200mA sink or source) for driving TTL or logic-level loads. It features a stable 5V internal reference and adjustable duty cycle. Timing is set by external RC networks. Selection is suitable for systems requiring multiple independent timing functions. Applications include pulse generation, missing pulse detection, precision timing for power sequencing, frequency dividers, LED flashers, and dual timer circuits in consumer electronics and industrial control panels.
