PCF8574RGTR TI I/O Expanders

The PCF8574RGTR is an 8-bit I/O expander from Texas Instruments designed for I2C-bus applications, operating over a supply voltage range of 2.5V to 6V. It provides general-purpose remote I/O expansion for most microcontroller families via the I2C interface, featuring an 8-bit quasi-bidirectional I/O port (P0–P7) with latched outputs that have high-current drive capability for directly driving LEDs. Each quasi-bidirectional I/O can be used as input or output without a data-direction control signal. The device includes an open-drain interrupt output that can be activated when any input state differs from its corresponding input port register state, alerting the master controller. Key specifications include low standby current consumption of 10 µA max, 100 kHz clock frequency, 25 mA sink current capability, and latch-up performance exceeding 100 mA per JESD 78 Class II. Housed in a 16-pin WQFN (RGT) package (3mm × 3mm) with exposed pad, it operates over -40°C to 85°C.
