The SN65HVD1780 is a fault-protected RS-485 transceiver designed for harsh industrial environments, operating from 3.15V to 5.5V supply . It features bus-pin fault protection up to ±70V, wide common-mode range of -20V to +25V, and data rates up to 115kbps . The device provides 1/8 unit-load receiver allowing up to 256 nodes on a single bus, with failsafe receiver output for open, shorted, or idle buses. Differential output and complementary output polarity are standard. Operating temperature range is -40°C to 105°C . Packaged in 8-pin SOIC. Selection is ideal for industrial communication networks requiring robustness against bus faults and high voltage transients.
