The SN65HVD235DR is a 3.3-V CAN bus transceiver from Texas Instruments, designed for applications using the Controller Area Network (CAN) serial communication physical layer in accordance with ISO 11898 standards. It supports data rates up to 1 Mbps and features a single 3.3V supply voltage. The device includes extended -7V to 12V common-mode range, ±36V bus pin fault protection, ±16 kV HBM ESD protection, and high input impedance allowing up to 120 nodes on the bus. The RS pin (pin 8) provides three operating modes: high-speed mode (pin 8 grounded), slope control mode (with external resistor for adjustable slew rate), and low-power standby mode. The SN65HVD235 specifically features auto-baud rate loopback mode. Additional features include LVTTL I/O with 5-V tolerance, thermal shutdown protection, and unpowered nodes not interfering with the bus. Housed in an 8-pin SOIC (D) package, it operates over -40°C to 125°C.
