The SN65HVD3082EDGKR is a low-power half-duplex RS-485 transceiver from Texas Instruments, designed for signaling rates up to 200 kbps. It features 1/8 unit-load input impedance, allowing up to 256 nodes on a single bus segment—significantly more than standard RS-485 transceivers—making it ideal for large multidrop networks. The device delivers ultra-low active-mode current consumption of just 0.3 mA, with a 1 nA shutdown mode for battery-powered applications. Robust protection includes ±15 kV HBM and ±16 kV IEC 61000-4-2 ESD ratings on bus pins, and receiver fail-safe ensures a logic-high output under open, short, or idle bus conditions for system reliability. Housed in an 8-pin VSSOP package and operating from -40°C to +85°C, this transceiver is ideal for energy meter networks, building automation and HVAC control, industrial sensor networks, motor drive and inverter communication, security and access control systems, remote data acquisition, and battery-powered RS-485 applications.
