The SN74AHC138 is a 3-line to 8-line decoder/demultiplexer with high-speed CMOS technology. It operates from 2V to 5.5V and features three enable inputs (two active-low, one active-high) for easy cascading. The device provides active-low outputs and low static power consumption (20 µA max). Propagation delay is 7.5 ns typical at 5V. Selection is ideal for memory address decoding and data routing. Applications include microprocessor memory mapping, digital demultiplexing of serial data streams, LED matrix row/column selection, and peripheral selection in embedded systems.
