SN74HC138N TI Signal Switches, Multiplexers, Decoders

The SN74HC138 is a 3-to-8 line decoder/demultiplexer with active-low outputs, operating from 2V to 6V supply. It features three enable inputs (two active-low, one active-high) for easy cascading to 1-of-16, 1-of-24, or 1-of-32 decoders. Propagation delay is 15ns typical at 5V. The device provides high drive capability and low static power consumption. Selection is ideal for memory address decoding and data routing in high-speed CMOS systems. Applications include microprocessor memory address decoding, data demultiplexing for display driving, peripheral selection, and LED matrix row/column selection in embedded systems, industrial controls, and consumer electronics requiring through-hole PDIP-16 packaging.
