SN74HC164N TI Shift Registers
The SN74HC164 is an 8-bit serial-in, parallel-out shift register with asynchronous master reset. It operates from 2V to 6V and features gated serial inputs (A and B) allowing full control of entry data. When either input is low, it inhibits new data entry and resets the first flip-flop to low. The device provides positive-edge triggering and includes a master reset to clear the register. Propagation delay is 15ns typical at 5V. Selection is suited for serial-to-parallel conversion in low-power CMOS systems. Applications include LED display drivers, keyboard encoders, digital delay lines, and I/O port expansion for microcontrollers requiring minimal interface pins in consumer and industrial electronics.
