The T835T-8I from ST is an 800 V, 8 A Snubberless™ alternistor TRIAC in a through‑hole TO‑220AB insulated package, purpose‑built for general‑purpose AC switching where high commutation capability and thermal robustness are essential. For selection, it features a sensitive 35 mA max gate trigger current, 1.3 V max gate trigger voltage, 40 mA typical holding current, and an 80 A non‑repetitive surge rating. The Snubberless™ technology delivers high static dV/dt (>1 kV/µs) and dynamic turn‑off commutation, often eliminating external snubber networks. It operates across three quadrants with a maximum junction temperature of 150 °C. In application, it excels in ON/OFF and phase angle control for AC motor drives in home appliances, solid‑state relays, heating element controllers, lighting dimmers, and industrial power tools where reliable, compact through‑hole switching is critical.
