TCA6424RGJR TI I/O Expanders

The TCA6424RGJR is a 24-bit I2C-bus and SMBus I/O expander from Texas Instruments providing high-density general-purpose parallel input/output expansion for the two-line bidirectional I2C bus protocol. It operates over a supply voltage range of 1.65V to 5.5V and supports both 100-kHz (Standard-mode) and 400-kHz (Fast-mode) I2C clock frequencies. The device features 24 I/O pins (three 8-bit ports) that can be individually configured as input or output via I/O direction registers, along with polarity inversion registers for input polarity configuration. Key features include an open-drain active-low interrupt output that alerts the master controller when any input port state changes, three hardware address pins allowing up to eight devices on the same I2C/SMBus, internal power-on reset, noise filter on SCL/SDA inputs, and latched outputs with high-current drive capability for directly driving LEDs. The high I/O count makes it ideal for applications requiring extensive I/O expansion. Housed in a 32-pin UQFN (RGJ) package (5mm × 5mm), it operates over -40°C to 85°C.
