TCA9535DBR TI I/O Expanders

The TCA9535DBR is a 16-bit I2C-bus and SMBus I/O expander from Texas Instruments providing general-purpose parallel input/output (I/O) expansion for the two-line bidirectional I2C bus (or SMBus) protocol. The device supports both 100-kHz (Standard-mode) and 400-kHz (Fast-mode) I2C clock frequencies and is typically used in remote locations from the master, placed close to the GPIOs that the master needs to monitor or control. I/O expanders such as the TCA9535 are typically used for controlling LEDs (for feedback or status lights), controlling enable or reset signals of other devices, and reading the outputs of other devices or buttons. Key features include open-drain active-low interrupt output that alerts the master when input port states change, three hardware address pins allowing up to eight devices on the same I2C/SMBus, configurable I/O direction registers, polarity inversion registers, internal power-on reset, noise filter on SCL/SDA inputs, and latched outputs with high-current drive capability. Housed in a 24-pin SSOP (DB) package, it operates over -40°C to 85°C. Applications include servers, routers, personal computers, personal electronics, industrial automation, gaming consoles, and products with GPIO-limited processors requiring 16-bit I/O expansion.
