TCA9554ADBQR TI I/O Expanders

The TCA9554ADBQR is an 8-bit I2C-bus and SMBus I/O expander from Texas Instruments designed for 1.65V to 5.5V VCC operation. It provides general-purpose parallel input/output (I/O) expansion for the two-line bidirectional I2C bus (or SMBus) protocol. The device supports both 100-kHz (Standard-mode) and 400-kHz (Fast-mode) clock frequencies, making it compatible with a wide range of microcontrollers. I/O expanders such as the TCA9554A provide a simple solution when additional I/Os are needed for switches, sensors, push-buttons, LEDs, fans, and other similar devices. Key features include open-drain active-low interrupt output, configurable I/O direction and polarity inversion registers, internal power-on reset, noise filter on SCL/SDA inputs, and latched outputs with high-current drive capability for directly driving LEDs. The device has three hardware address pins (A0, A1, A2) allowing up to eight devices on the same I2C/SMBus. Housed in a 16-pin SSOP (DBQ) package, it operates over -40°C to 85°C. Applications include servers, routers, personal electronics, industrial automation, and GPIO-limited processor systems requiring additional I/O expansion.
