The TPS61178 is a fully integrated synchronous boost converter with load disconnect control. It operates from 2.7V to 20V input and provides an adjustable output from 4.5V to 20V, delivering up to 10A programmable switch peak current. The device integrates two 16mΩ power FETs, achieving efficiency up to 96% (7.2V to 16V at 2A). Switching frequency is adjustable from 200kHz to 2.2MHz with external clock synchronization capability. The TPS61178 includes a built-in gate driver for load disconnect, hiccup short protection, overvoltage protection, and thermal protection. Auto PFM mode maintains high efficiency at light loads. Selection is optimal for high-power portable audio and display systems. Applications include portable speakers, source drivers for LCD displays, power amplifiers, motor drives, and USB Type-C Power Delivery .
