The TPS62560 is a high-efficiency synchronous step-down converter optimized for battery-powered portable applications. It operates from 2.5V to 5.5V and delivers up to 600mA of output current. The device features a 2.25 MHz fixed switching frequency, enabling the use of tiny 2.2 µH inductors and small ceramic capacitors. It automatically enters Power Save Mode (PSM) at light loads to maintain high efficiency across the full load range, drawing only 15 µA typical quiescent current. A MODE pin allows forcing fixed-frequency PWM for low-noise applications. Selection is optimal for single-cell Li-Ion or AA battery systems. Applications include PDAs, portable media players, low-power DSP supplies, and point-of-load regulation in space-constrained handheld devices .
