The TRS3232 is a dual RS-232 line driver/receiver operating from a single 3V to 5.5V supply. It features two drivers and two receivers meeting TIA/EIA-232-F standards, with a charge pump requiring only four 0.1µF external capacitors. The device supports data rates up to 250kbps and features ±15kV ESD protection on the RS-232 pins (IEC 61000-4-2). Supply current is 300µA typical. The TRS3232 is pin-compatible with the industry standard MAX3232. Selection is ideal for low-voltage serial communication. Applications include battery-powered electronics, handheld instruments, point-of-sale terminals, and computer serial ports requiring RS-232 interface without a ±12V supply.
