The VS-30CPU04-N3 from Vishay is a 400V, dual common-cathode ultrafast recovery rectifier built on FRED Pt® technology for high-frequency power applications. For selection, its key advantage is an exceptionally short 46ns reverse recovery time, which minimizes switching losses and EMI in hard-switched converters. Each diode handles 15A average forward current with a low 1.25V forward voltage at full load, ensuring high efficiency. The 400V blocking voltage suits power factor correction circuits and output rectification from 230V AC mains. Its TO-247AC through-hole package provides excellent thermal performance for effective heatsinking. In application, it excels as an output rectifier in high-power server and telecom switch-mode power supplies, a boost diode in PFC stages of industrial motor drives, and a freewheeling diode in uninterruptible power supplies. It is also ideal for high-speed rectification in welding equipment and renewable energy inverters where high-reliability, fast recovery, and robust 175°C junction operation are essential.
